I really liked her and thought she was a great character to carry the story, rather than someone further up the hierarchy. The killer abducts then holds the women for months, they show signs of extreme torture and abuse and then are released, essentially as a vegetable for the rest of their lives.

I kind of liked the premise and it has been a while since I've read the genre, so I thought I would give this a try.i did not have a good time reading this at all and i love to feel uncomfortable when reading extreme horror. When another young woman goes missing, Winter has to race against the clock to identify the attacker and find the latest victim before it's too late. The plot is fast paced from the start, the book moves between Jefferson and the police profiling and hunting this madman and the killer and what he is getting up to with his latest victim. I, however, am coming to learn that my preference for extreme horror lies with books that are so outrageously unrealistic that I can completely remove fiction from reality. Mique’s writing is so beautiful and I can’t get over the way he makes you care for the characters, sets up the plot, and then rips your heart out from your chest in such a short amount of time. Also, you never had any sense that there was a very urgent large-scale task force working around the clock to rescue the captives.

Me personally, I would love a spin off story of Bret and how and why he got into doing what he does. So, in a way, they think they are better than their partners and are entitled to repair or polish them.
