To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Tra le varie esperienze dopo il terzo rimpatrio forzoso dalla Francia, anche una, breve ma significativa, come operaio di catena in una fabbrica che realizzava scarponi. Anyone more familiar with British television of the 50's and 60's would not skim, but for me there were too many names dropped that meant nothing, and too much focus on contract negotiations and other aspects of the business side of Marty's world at that point.

Like so many other people who ended up in the performing arts, he was evidently a neurotic all his life. One has to acknowledge flaws, recognise that not everything the subject did had merit, be ready to challenge those set in stone stories the subject told about their life.

Feldman's performances on American television included The Dean Martin Show and Marty Feldman's Comedy Machine. As with all good books, I found myself both wanting to read all night, and also wanting to delay finishing it. I'm not sure just why that is; the author was sympathetic to Marty and certainly included plenty of information, but somehow the timing was off for me.I did manage to find this nifty youtube video of The Monster Sketch from Feldman's early days, and watching it brought him a bit more into focus. And while I learned details about the man, I never really felt that he came to life here, not the way subjects of other biographies usually do. When I was a kid, I used to think Monty Python, The Goon Show, Marty Feldman and even the Benny Hill Show was funny. Published exactly as Feldman had left it, there are some passages which seem a tad scatological: perhaps collaborating with an editor would have helped finesse the work in places, but that rawness does lend great emotional gravitas when we reach the end of the book and realise that he had so many exciting projects he was working of when the heart attack took him from us. From January 1959 until his death in 1982, Feldman was married to Lauretta Sullivan, with whom he had two children. Hilarious, deeply charming, aphoristic, ironic, charged throughout with lust for life and filled with scenes of great vanished eras and and portraits of other performers and friends, eYE Marty is the amazing discovery of the story of a man who was at the heart of the British comedy revolution. E anche la giacca e i pantaloni finivano con te sotto le lenzuola se volevi ritrovarli la mattina successiva.

Feldman created a number of immensely successful and influential shows such as Marty , The Frost Report and sketches for Monty Python. If you read his books in isolation, you'd believe that each of his subjects was the biggest mega- celebrity going! According to an editor's note in Feldman's posthumously published autobiography, Graham Chapman was with him at the time of his death. Marty's long list of writing credits was an eye opener for me, was aware of his general body of work beforehand but again was an eye opener. For BBC Radio they wrote Round the Horne (1964–67), their best-remembered comedy series, which starred Kenneth Horne and Kenneth Williams.
