Since rear fog lights are compulsory, every car will have at least one rear fog light. Front fog lights are not compulsory, so only few cars come with them. 4. What is the purpose of fog lights in a car? Use your lights if visibility is reduced to 100 metres (328 feet) or roughly the length of a football pitch

The switched circuit of the relay gets 12v live feed from a splice into the n/s rear side-light wire, the switch "on" terminal connects to a splice into the n/s fog-light wire. I have confirmed via the russian owners manual that their lighting stalk is on the left and includes the rear fog position (you have to pass through the front, so front is always illuminated if rear are)I see both sides of the argument, and I can see merit in both reasoning. But it is strange that people like us live in europe and embrace things differently than we do. It would appear DVLA can't agree with itself ! I note you don't mention any requirement for the height of reflectors. Car lights have come on in leaps and bounds in the past few year, to the extent that fog lights almost seem unnecessary these days. However, UK law dictates that a fog light must be included in the tail lights at the rear of a car, while front fog lights are a useful extra that car makers can use to attract buyers to higher spec models. Converted reversing light on offside. I.e. a red bulb in the offside reversing light, with modified wiring to suit.

Fog light symbols - to turn them on or off - can usually be found on a button on the dashboard, on a steering wheel stalk, or next to the dial you use to control your regular lights. Ran accross this post by mistake, but I know the answer to your rear fog only working on left side... Most vehicles will have a separate button to switch on the fog lights, which, when turned on, will be illuminated, which will show you that the lights are turned on. With all this, I do think the easiest thing to do would be to get the Pektron SCU out (can be reached from the n/s footwell panel) and replace the relay in question. It is a bit difficult as the screw that holds the unit is quite special, but this would eliminate the need to either re-wire half the centre console or buy an expensive replacement. It's not just the unit, it's two new (yes, brand new, not used ones) fobs to go with it plus a testbook session to marry them to the ECU.This then led me to believe that the switch on the indicator stalk was faulty or there was loose wiring connecting the switch to the circuitry on the rear of the unit housing the multifunction stalks and squib. However after removing the plastic housing I can see that the wires are intact and are still soldered to the circuit board. When I unplugged the wires connecing the rear fog lamp switch to the loom, the voltmeter was still reading 8 - 9v on the rear bulb holder. In UK market cars with rear fog lights factory fitted from new, the rear fog light should only be able to be switched on when the side lights or head lights are on. There are similar stipulations for imported vehicles going through the IVA test. However the same requirement is not mentioned in the MOT test manual. I still think it makes sense to wire them up so they can only be switched on when the other lights are on (and that is how I do it). How to find the rear fog light(s) For many generations citizens have driven in the USA without Rear fogs, and unless you live in area that has cronic fog, or blinding snow storms etc., they are of no use at all. As per the Highway Code, fog lights should be switched off when the visibility is normal, or if it improves after a period of being foggy. Leaving the fog lights on can dazzles drivers ahead. Neither the front nor the rear fog lights can be left turned on when your vehicle is parked, or you may get fined for incorrect usage of your fog lights. Do All Cars Have Fog Lights?

Fog lights are present on the rear and front of vehicles. Since front fog lights are not legally required, many manufacturers do not provide front fog lights. drive particularly slowly on bends where loss of control is more likely. Brake progressively on the straight before you reach a bend. Having slowed down, steer smoothly round the bend, avoiding sudden actionslisten to travel bulletins and take note of variable message signs that may provide information about weather, road and traffic conditions ahead. Dangler. I’m not a fan, but it is a legitimate option for adding a rear fog light. You won’t miss it. Now, your running lights, instrument panel lights, number plate lights and rear lights should be lit up. stop in the correct position at a junction with limited visibility and listen for traffic. When you are sure it is safe to emerge, do so positively and do not hesitate in a position that puts you directly in the path of approaching vehicles. Don’t forget your high-level brake light (this will be above your car’s rear windscreen), or your reversing lights.
