This is especially true of the absence of information about using a non-sudsing cleaner, which Dyson shared with us during press briefings but which is not mentioned anywhere in the setup or usage guide. Even more impressive is the fact that the roller seems to pick up a heck of a lot of fine dust that the Fluffy Optic misses and doesn’t even illuminate, leaving your floors spotless and a lot cleaner than just vacuuming. That sounds unlikely, if not downright impossible, but truly, the first thing I noticed after moving from vacuum mode to mopping mode by switching out the Fluffy Optic head designed for use on hard flooring for the Submarine wet roller head was how the machine glided across the floors with virtually no effort on my part.

If you can figure out how to avoid those spills – I sure couldn’t in the few weeks I was testing the V15s Detect Submarine – then Dyson’s new cordless vacuum mop is a great cleaner. Note: Can not be used with any chemicals (including Eucalyptus oil) inside the water tank; this may cause damage to the unit and void the warranty. In my opinion, this is better value than either of Dyson's previous two offerings from 2021 and 2022. Although offering sparkling hard floors following a number of swipes, the Hard impressed but did not excel in early tests.The Submarine is designed to clean floors with just water, and it does an excellent job because of the microfiber roller, which picks up dirt and debris without requiring additional cleaning agents. Two-in-One: Just because you’re using the mop head attachment doesn’t mean that you won’t get any suction. I also scattered different-sized grain on the floor to test vacuuming, including sugar, rice, Cheerios and tapioca pearls. Although we pushed the device beyond its natural expectations, for the most part it addressed the cleaning needs of the situations in front of it. Its length is too short to get deep into nooks and crannies, and it doesn’t create as good a seal as the separate attachment does, so it barely sucks up anything from skirting boards.

And with this latest 2022 model, you get the added control for water release, with manual foot control. However, spills with smaller bits of food, like rice, can be mopped up easily by the Submarine, but you will need to give it a good wash and allow it to dry fully before using it again.For those who are wondering, there is an opening at the center of the attachment for debris to enter the vacuum (that’s how it acts as a 2-in-1). It also comes with several attachments, including an auto-empty station that sucks out any dust and dirt, including hair, in seconds. You have to place the pads properly on the mop head, otherwise, they can brush against each other, which isn’t what you want when you’re trying to clean the floor.
