The Dr Brown’s range of bottle teats come in six different flow rates – including a variable option. Newborn babies generally feed between 10 and 14 times in 24 hours, with feeds becoming a little less frequent as they grow.

If your baby doesn’t cope with the faster flow, then resort back to the original teat and change it up in a few weeks. When assembling your bottle, it’s important that you check the valve (C), holding it to the light to check that the slit in the silicone hasn’t sealed closed. If you notice that your baby’s bottle is damaged, scratched or cracked, it’s a good idea to replace it. For safety and hygiene reasons it is recommended that the feeding teat is replaced every two months.Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature baby Bottles are available in a wide range of sizes, colours and decorations. When it comes to content, our aim is simple: every parent should have access to information they can trust. It’s important to follow your baby’s feeding cues and signs that they need more milk, such as finishing each feed and seeming to want more (NHS, 2015; Unicef, 2016). Using these bottles isn’t a guaranteed cure; some parents find them helpful but they don't work for all babies.

However, I'll be trying the fast flow teats just so he can have his feed in a good time period rather than going off the bottle. Whether you’re making the switch from breastfeeding, or have been bottle feeding for a while, it's important to check that the teats you’re using are the right ones for your baby and their bottle, and that they’re in tip-top condition.Once the consistency becomes too thick for these teats, we recommend you to use the Philips Avent Thick Feed teat. You might also want to check out our comprehensive guides to bottle-feeding your baby, with information on everything from choosing the right bottle, to tips and advice for feeding on the go. Baby sucking is not always very effective at first, especially in babies born a few weeks prematurely. These Philips Avent Natural teats can be used on the Philips Avent Natural feeding bottle and Philips Avent storage cups.

The baby may suck vigorously and ingest more air than usual in an attempt to receive enough milk if the teat is moving too slowly. After scratching my head and pondering what the issue could be, I realised I had stuck with the newborn teats for too long. Hi my lo is 7 weeks old was struggling to finish his bottle on a num 1 teat sometimes he only took 3-4 oz norm has 7oz so I put him up to a level 2 he has been fine now all of a sudden I think he has colic could this be the teat change? The teat features an innovative petal design for natural latch-on similar to the breast, for easy combining of breast and bottle.

Babies love the smart Skin Soft Teat because it feels so soft and familiar, just like a mother's skin. Its weird though because she also has a habit of spitting some milk back out aswell, this is why I'm not sure about switching her teats! You can use the age brackets of each teat size to gauge when it’s time to move up a size and/or flow rate, but your baby will also let you know when it’s time to change, or even if you’ve moved up too quickly. Anyway he started fussing with his bottle and would take ages to drink 6-7oz, so my sister suggested I change, so I bought boots fast flow and he's been great since.
