Description

Severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs) including Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) , drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), which can be life-threatening or fatal, have been reported very rarely and rarely, respectively in association with omeprazole treatment. As in all long-term treatments, especially when exceeding a treatment period of 1 year, patients should be kept under regular surveillance. Therefore, if any of the following happen to you before you start taking Pyrocalm Control Tablets or while you are taking them, talk to your doctor straight away: Pyrocalm 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets usually start to work within 2 to 3 days, although it may take up to a month for you to fully feel the effects of the treatment. Omeprazole is not intended for immediate relief of heartburn or indigestion. It is designed to be taken daily to provide longer-term relief from stomach issues such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD).

Ketoconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole or voriconazole (used to treat infections caused by a fungus) You have ever had a skin reaction after treatment with a medicine similar to Pyrocalm Control Tablets that reduces stomach acid. You should specifically tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking clopidogrel (used to prevent blood clots (thrombi)). Pyrocalm Control 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets are unsuitable for you if you’re allergic to Omeprazole, any of the other ingredients listed above, or any other proton pump inhibiting medicines (including lansoprazole, pantoprazole, esomeprazole or rabeprazole). Anxiety may reduce pressure in the muscular ring which joins the oesophagus to the stomach hindering it from preventing acid leaking into the gullet.

Oral dosing with omeprazole 20 mg maintains an intragastric pH of ≥3 for a mean time of 17 hours of the 24-hour period in duodenal ulcer patients.

Large meals that fill the stomach are more likely to trigger acid reflux symptoms, so consider eating smaller portions. Do not take Pyrocalm Control Tablets if you are taking a medicine containing nelfinavir (used to treat HIV infection). Concomitant administration of omeprazole with nelfinavir is contraindicated (see section 4.3). Co-administration of omeprazole (40 mg once daily) reduced mean nelfinavir exposure by ca. 40% and the mean exposure of the pharmacologically active metabolite M8 was reduced by ca. 75 –90%. The interaction may also involve CYP2C19 inhibition. As a consequence of reduced acid secretion and intragastric acidity, omeprazole dose-dependently reduces/normalizes acid exposure of the oesophagus in patients with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. During long-term treatment gastric glandular cysts have been reported in a somewhat increased frequency. These changes are a physiological consequence of pronounced inhibition of acid secretion, are benign and appear to be reversible.Widespread rash, high body temperature and enlarged lymph nodes (DRESS syndrome or drug hypersensitivity syndrome). (rare) Concomitant treatment with omeprazole (20 mg daily) and digoxin in healthy subjects increased the bioavailability of digoxin by 10%. Digoxin toxicity has been rarely reported. However caution should be exercised when omeprazole is given at high doses in elderly patients. Therapeutic drug monitoring of digoxin should then be reinforced.

Sometimes, the oesophageal sphincter weakens under excess pressure, causing stomach acid to travel up into the oesophagus. This is acid reflux. Acid reflux typically leads to heartburn, which is the name for the painful sensation of acid irritating or burning the tissues of the oesophagus. It actually has nothing to do with the heart — it gets its name because the pain is felt at the base of the chest. How do Pyrocalm Control 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets work? For patients expected to be on prolonged treatment or who take PPIs with digoxin or drugs that may cause hypomagnesaemia (e.g., diuretics), healthcare professionals should consider measuring magnesium levels before starting PPI treatment and periodically during treatment. Sudden wheezing, swelling of your lips, tongue and throat or body, rash, fainting or difficulties in swallowing (severe allergic reaction). (rare)
