To cook rice in the microwave, you’ll start with a microwave-safe container, raw rice (like basmati, jasmine, or sushi rice). For 4 people, you’ll need 1 1/2 cups of raw rice. Rinse the rice. Dump out all the water. Add 2-1/4 cups water. Microwave 5 minutes high/15 minutes at 50% of power/rest 5 minutes. Hi, Great tip but yo must specify what size you microwave is for the power setting and cooking times to be of use. Microwaves can be anything from 600 to 1200 watts. It sounds like the salient point is to get it to boil then reduces the power and run it for a bit. I have a 1200 watt unit and zapped for 5 minutes on full – to much boiled over next time ill try 4 – then set at 50% (which is as power full as the smaller ovens on full) ran for 10 minutes – maybe a little short still a bit hard. Students love it as it reduces the number of pots they have to use in general and makes cooking rice easier and faster.

Capacity: Consider the size of your microwave and the amount of food you typically cook. Look for a steamer that is the right size for your needs, as you don't want to waste valuable kitchen space with a steamer that is too large or struggle to fit food in a steamer that is too small. To steam vegetables, fill a pot with enough water to come just below the steaming basket, and bring it to a boil. Place the prepared vegetables in the basket, cover the pot with a lid, and reduce the heat to a simmer. The vegetables will steam until they are tender and cooked to your liking. Cooking Time for Different Vegetables: There’s a common myth that microwaving “destroys” more nutrients, but this isn’t the case. All types of cooking, including using the hob, reduce the amount of certain vitamins (such as B vitamins), but the amount depends on how long the food is cooked for. Boiling vegetables is thought to leach more vitamins than any other method, so microwave steaming as actually a better option. Allows the rice to cook thoroughly. I have found that the rice is a bit grainy if you use it straight away. By leaving it the steam continues cooking so it becomes soft.

Sistema® Ultra™ clear containers can be stored perfectly on the counter top, kitchen drawers, pantry and fridge. To prevent staining and blistering, avoid heating foods like tomato-based sauces, beetroot, curries, food seasoned with the herb turmeric, or foods with high fat or high sugar content.

Microwave Rice is faster than other methods and just as fluffy! Thanks for this amazing method. Reply A few people seem to have had issues with the container melting, either from the bottom or the sides. One said that it nearly burned down their house. I was horrified and it immediately made me concerned about getting it. Containers can become stiff after freezing. Allow the container to rest for a few minutes at room temperature or run under warm water before opening or microwaving.
