Glow in the Dark: Voyage Through Space by Katy Flint is a gorgeously illustrated, fact & theory filled book, certain to enchant all elementary-aged budding scientists and those children eager to read "all the space books." Bonus points for this book for having a girl character as the astronaut! That's something STEM-loving little girls will absolutely not miss and will love! As Tara explains, healing is not a linear process and you can’t hustle your way through life. But, if you are: Come explore with the girl and her dog as we travel from the sun (hot hot hot) to the last one, the Kuiper Belt (which features Pluto). I loved finding the girl in the illustrations, sometimes she was quite tiny so you had to look around. I loved that she at times, if the planet allowed it, was seen stepping on the planet. And at times she was just sitting and relaxing on an asteroid. I was given a free, digital ARC of this book by NetGalley. All thoughts expressed here are my own.] It started well, and the author shared her traumatic experience with her parents. She has been through a lot since childhood, and I admire that she overcame all those things and became more alive and healthy.

Her real-life experiences feel so raw, and she is so vulnerable in sharing them before elaborating on points related to the story. Many topics were covered that I think many people could relate to. There are many takeaways/quotes that I found valuable, and the author also helped me to understand that all of our feelings are valid. What I think I like the most about the Bluey books is the way their messages aren’t necessarily subtle, but they are never preachy or judgmental in tone. The narratives are gentle, fun-loving and warm. Promoting good old-fashioned family fun, in a modern environment. What I did think was a shame was that they clumped Earth and Moon together. I kind of get why they did it, as the girl came from Earth. But I would have liked to see her take a pit stop in between her journey and tell us about Earth. Or maybe end it with Earth? Though that would be kind of weird as we go from Sun to Kuiper Belt, but I guess in the end would make sense. OMG, this was even better than I had hoped. What I had expected (given the cover): lots of gorgeous space photography as we travel our universe. Instead we travel the universe with a sweet girl, her dog, and absolutely stunning illustrations! The elaboration of her experience before getting to the main point was so long. It could be cut off a lot with good editing. The book's format is also not my liking for a self-help book. But listen. It's all part of being your best you. And, truly, it's all going to come out at some point, so you might as well manage this shit.

Overall, this book is a miss for me. However, I truly believe I am not the right person for this book, and I hope it will reach the correct audience widely. It was inspiring when the author approached the serious healing topics in a funny and lighthearted way, but I felt that the author was trying so hard to be funny in some parts, and I could not bring myself to like it. During the story, Bluey stumbles upon her father laying on the floor. Her mom tells her that Bandit is dreaming about playing touch football like he used to before the kids were born and having to invest a lot of time into them during the vital stages of development. After watching her father for a moment, Bluey has an epiphany of being able to dream about being a fruit bat while she's asleep--meaning she can get what she wants and her parents can get her to sleep as well. All in all, I would highly recommend this fun, delightful, and did I mention stunningly gorgeous book to everyone. Most people are afraid of what others might think or say if they showed up as their true authentic selves. Especially in a business or professional context. That’s why too many of us are terrified of sharing our story authentically in public and struggle to make a lasting impact when introducing ourselves.

note: this book is still incredible popular, it’s just an underrated gem compared to the other two. Mark’s work has appeared in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph, Metro and his TEDx talk has been watched over a million times and was listed as the #1 TED talk on entrepreneurship to watch by Steven Bartlett (host of the Diary of a CEO podcast and a Dragon on Dragon’s Den).If you're not dealing with the thing you know you need to deal with, it's dealing with you. And it's likely that the people around dealing with it too.” Tara brings acceptance, compassion, joy, and sometimes even laughter to some of the most difficult subjects of life. I love the way that she speaks to her reader as if you are her best friend and she is sitting in the room with you, holding your hand and helping you cope with whatever it is you may be going through. Thanks to his creative video CV going viral, Mark previously served as Country Manager at the Movember Foundation, where he helped raise €2.8 million for men’s health and inspired 110,000 fundraisers to take part, winning multiple awards along the way. I'm glad photo evidence exists of this tour, mostly because I did not catch it. Hearing Kanye West and Spike Jonez talk about, I get some sense of it, while a great deal is left the imagination. I found it most valuable to read the book and then talk to a friend who had been able to catch the tour. Even still, the book itself is no great work. But what if you could make a connection instantly, effortlessly engaging your audience every time you introduced yourself and the work that you do, be it on stage, at work or on a podcast? And more importantly, what if you could get people to care about and pay attention to what you had to say, share or sell?
