Asics special AHAR+ (Asics High Abrasion Resistant) carbon rubber is reserved for use in the heel where heavy wear can occur.

As a flexible arched over pronator I am keenly aware if a shoe is weak or too flat in the arch and the GTX is, thankfully, neither.the biggest problem I have with the GTX version is the additional weight of the shoe (the GTX weighs 50 grams per shoe more than the regular GT-2000), so I wouldn’t recommend these shoes for racing. There has also been some reshaping around the back of the ankle, which is now slightly more rounded and hugs the foot securely yet comfortably.

For 2013 Asics has decided to reboot their franchise GT series shoe and start again with modern design ideas while aiming to retain the fit and ride that thousands of runners have enjoyed for nearly two decades.Size exchange is available under the condition that the item(s) is unused and still has the KICKS CREW Quality Control tags attached. The upper feels more breathable than that of the GT-2000 8 thanks to the redesigned upper, making it a particularly comfortable shoe for warmer weather, or hitting the treadmill indoors. It could be due to the Gore Tex upper though I’ll have to wait until I get the road version of the GT 2000 to make a final verdict in this regard.

Some may find the toe-box a little narrow, but if you’ve found other Asics shoes comfortable then you’re unlikely to face any problems. Dynamic Duomax is located on the medial aspect of the shoe and begins near the heel and travels just past the arch. The mesh upper also works to support the foot as you move ensuring you always feel locked in and comfortable.

For nearly 30 years, the GT-2000 series has been the stability shoe of choice for a variety of runners, ranging from casual weekend warriors to top marathon finishers. As previously mentioned, the Asics GT-2000 8 is very similar, and if you're willing to forego some design improvements of the newer shoe, you can pick up a pair for considerably less. They look pretty much identical to the normal GT 2000’s but you can feel that there’s in difference in the GTX. With the addition of the Gore-Tex membrane, the trainers offer enhanced protection against water and allow for breathability, keeping your feet dry and comfortable even in wet conditions. If you're looking for a lightweight, cushioned running shoe that's functional for going the distance in wet conditions, the GT-2000™ 9 G-TX (GORE-TEX™) model is an outstanding choice.
