Chinese noodles are the perfect microcosm of Chinese food: diverse, delicious, and chock full of flavor. From short noodles to long noodles, soups to stir-fry, here are seven of China’s best noodle dishes.

How much Aspartic acid is in Chinese noodles? Amount of Aspartic acid in Chinese noodles: Aspartic acid There are many Chinese noodle types with some of the most well-known varieties, including egg wheat, glass and rice noodles. China isn’t a monolith and neither are its noodles. In southern China, rice rules the roost. There, rice flour-based recipes generate bouncy and gummy products that soak up sauce like a sponge. (Through centuries of migration, colonization, and trade, the techniques and dishes developed in that part of China seeped into Southeast Asia, giving birth to regional faves like pho, khao soi, and pad see ew.) Head farther inland in China and wheat reigns supreme. It manifests as a vibrantly diverse array of regional breads, pancakes, and, most importantly, wheat and starch noodles.

Also, chili oil enhances a stir-fry, roasted veggies, toasted nuts , and even pizza or pasta, so it’s unlikely to be one of those long forgotten condiments in your fridge. To Begin: boil and cook the noodles according to box instructions (spaghetti pasta takes 10 minutes to cook to al dente, however, 12 minutes makesfluffy noodles!) Noodles can be cooked and enjoyed in a number of ways. Most commonly, they are stir-fried and mixed in with some delicious vegetables or meat slices or served as part of a soup. Alternatively, some noodles are deep-fried, steamed or boiled as you would cook pasta. Noodles can be served hot immediately after cooking, but are just as enjoyable cool the next day.

So we’ve had a look at the basics of different types of Chinese noodles but what about different noodle dishes? Types of Chinese Noodles – Lanzhou Beef Noodles Firm vegetables (eg.carrots, zucchini) – slice into 1/5″ / 3mm slices. I like to cut carrotson the diagonal, then either vertically in half or sometimes I julienne it. There is also a grain-free noodle option for this recipe: spiralized zucchini noodles. Using zucchini instead of a wheat noodle makes this recipe ideal for anyone avoiding wheat or gluten. Please note that to make this recipe entirely gluten- or wheat-free, you’ll also need to substitute wheat-free tamari or coconut aminos as a 100% gluten-free soy sauce substitute. Ready-to-fry (pre-cooked) egg noodles. These are what I used for shooting this recipe. They can go into the wok/pan straight away so they’re definitely a winner when you have little time to hand. I usually buy them in UK mainstream supermarkets so no Chinese store trips are needed. This is optional only, when wanting to make stir fries with economical beef or you simply want extra tender beef, Chinese restaurant style! The difference between chow mein and lo mein is that chow mein noodles are thinner in size than lo mein noodles. Both noodles are prepared by boiling the egg noodles in water (thinner noodles take faster to boil or par-boil.)
