But it film is supported just as much by its colorful production design (also by the Chiodos), iconic theme song by The Dickies and cult actor John Vernon expertly playing his role to the hilt.

Productions (7:58, HD) – Stephen Chiodo leads a tour of the brothers’ studio, complete with additional video footage from behind-the-scenes of Killer Klowns from Outer Space , and complains about CG animation. The new 2018 Arrow special edition blu-ray (not to be confused with the 2012 Arrow special edition blu-ray) is here!

Killer Klowns from Outer Space received a previous Blu-ray release in 2012 from Metro Goldwyn Mayer. For 24-minutes the three (all filmed separately) talk about the monster movies they fell in love with as kids and then how, after their parents got the two older brothers an 8mm camera and a projector, they would start making their own movies. Each moment is another great idea carried out like I haven't seen in a film since the original Phantasm. The film itself has unintentionally funny dialogue and situations, but there are also some genuinely disturbing moments to be had as well. Audio Commentary — The Chiodo Brothers chat and converse amongst themselves while giving listeners lots of great anecdotal information.

While we only get clips from the films in the feature Arrow does thankfully include the full version of each short covered in this feature. Killer Klowns from Outer Space,' which has grown into a wildly popular cult favorite from Halloween masks to collectible action figures, is not a movie for the faint of heart. A spaceship - looking like a circus tent - lands in a field near a small town, signaling the attack of deviant, red-nosed, balloon-twisting psychos from another world who plan to annihilate mankind - by turning people into cotton candy! Killer Bloopers (SD, 3 min) — Several flubs, blunders and gaffes can be enjoyed, some amusing while others okay. It’s an honest track, pointing out both the things that work well and the short comings, but the participants are proud of what they put up on screen and are even happier that there are fans for the film.

I’d also be remiss if I didn’t comment on the packaging, which contains a foil slipcase, a reversible cover featuring new original art and the theatrical cover, a full-color booklet, and a fold-out poster – everything we’ve come to expect from Arrow and then some.

Cat Women Of the Moon just consists of seven to eight stodgy television actors standing around gabbing in cardboard sets. The Making of Killer Klowns (SD, 22 min) — Combining BTS footage from the original production with a more recent interview of the Chiodo Brothers, this featurette functions more like a discussion and look back at the making of the movie than a straightforward doc. There can no longer be any doubt - the Killer Klowns from Outer Space are here, and they're out to turn the Earth's population into candy floss! All these years later and countless viewings, the movie remains a riot, one which the Chiodo Brothers will continue to be remembered for, even if they never went on to other projects of their own making. Anatomy of a Killer Theme Song" (11 minutes) catches up with The Dickies [lead singer Leonard Graves Phillips and guitarist Stan Lee], who performed the title track and provide a candid chat about their introduction to Killer Klowns, writing rejected incidental music for the film, playing the song on tour, and more.We get on-camera interviews with stars Grant Cramer and Suzanne Snyder, as well as a short, 8 minute tour of the Chiodo Brothers' models and creations.

As I mentioned above the sequences where optical effects are employed can look a bit off: the image can fluctuate, the image gets a bit blurrier, black levels are a bit murkier, and some minor bits of dirt pop up. Most impressively the film doesn’t show much damage, most of the “flaws” seeming to be related to some optical effects. But if you've watched a lot of films because of their alluringly outrageous titles, you're probably used to being disappointed.

The disc is housed inside a blue eco-cutout keepcase with a new cover art that's rather cool and creepy. Shadow detail and black levels are very consistent: this is a surprisingly well-lit film at times, with very little murkiness even though much of it takes place at night. Stephen and Charles Chiodo’s cult favourite Killer Klowns from Outer Space receives a new Blu-ray release from Arrow Video, the 1080p/24hz high-definition presentation sourced from a new 4K restoration scanned from the 35mm original camera negative.
