Extremely Protective Child: One of the students set him off by hitting his aunt and mother figure Reiko also known as Ms. Mikami. O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Throughout the 3 episodes, she's been nothing but a nice girl, with a lot of questions to ask Kouichi. The only time she ever raised her voice in anger, was in episode 3 scolding Kouichi for mentioning Misaki's name. This was one of the first clues that tipped Kouichi off that Class 3-3 isn't what it seemed. Replacement Goldfish: Yukiyo made a doll which resembles Mei to create a duplicate of the child Yukiyo lost during her pregnancy. Cruel and Unusual Death: Her umbrella kills her when it impales her throat after she trips on the way down the stairs. Not only was the "mystery" handled very haphazardly throughout, but the horror and supernatural aspects were as well. Even now, this series isn't listed under supernatural, most likely because horror usually blends with supernatural in some way, but knowing that this series has supernatural elements only makes everything far worse. From the beginning, we're introduced to the central plot point: the curse that started 26 years ago that still takes the lives of people today. The problem with this is that throughout the series, the curse felt like nothing more than superstition. Almost every single death throughout the bulk of the series, and especially the ones in episode eleven could be logically explained in some way rather than only explainable by taking supernatural elements into consideration. There was only one death that truly felt so farfetched that it could only seem like the work of the supernatural hand , and that was the elevator death in episode four. However, no matter how small the chance of it happening is, it was still within the realm of possibility. I understand that hospital elevator cables snapping may seem ridiculous, and it really is, but you can't rule out this having happened at least once in documented history.
This is going to be short and sweet. While I am a huge fan of Noizi Itou's artwork and character design in general, I must admit the end of this series was a huge let down. I was, naturally, captivated by the visceral and beautifully displayed fates with which the characters met and was immediately entranced by the lure of a ghost story. However, there were many plot "twists" hinted at through out the story, most of which seemed lazily unfinished. It almost made me feel that the authors had really no concrete plot line to begin with, and hoped the masses would be entrancedThomas, Mark (November 29, 2013). Unfortunately, Another just happens to fall way outside my definition of horror, and seems to fit very nicely within comedy. In the manga continuity, Izumi is much more actively hostile toward Mei from the outset, jealous of her stoic acceptance of her role as the shunned student. Izumi was jealous of Mei's calm mien, especially given her own troubled home life and her inability to cope with it. She attempted to kill Mei in the kitchen at the inn, stabbing her in her glass eye. Mei, of course, survived this because of her artificial eye, but didn't retaliate, instead warning Izumi she'd better run, or risk being caught in the burning kitchen and killed. Berserk Button: While never shown onscreen, she does not like Mei spending time with her cousin /twin sister Misaki or her aunt /biological mother Mitsuyo, in fear of Mei one day running away to her biological family.
9th Grade Class 3
Loner-Turned-Friend: Mei is forced into complete isolation at school because everyone at her class ignores her presence as a countermeasure against the Calamity. Kouichi befriends her despite it being against the rules of the class. Another (4)" (in Japanese). Kadokawa Shoten. Archived from the original on March 3, 2016 . Retrieved December 5, 2011. Another is a 2012 Japanese adult animated horror television series produced by P.A. Works and directed by Tsutomu Mizushima that aired twelve episodes from 10 January to 27 March 2012. [1] Based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Yukito Ayatsuji, the series is set in 1998 and focuses on a boy named Kōichi Sakakibara who, upon transferring into Yomiyama Middle School and meeting the curious Mei Misaki, finds himself in a mystery revolving around students and people related to his class facing gruesome and senseless deaths. Another was directed by Tsutomu Mizushima and produced by P.A. Works, with character designs by Yuriko Ishii, the chief animation director of the series, based on Noizi Ito's original concepts for the novel. [2] [3] [4] Despair Event Horizon: The turning moment for Yumi is her brother Atsushi's death, thanks to the Calamity.
Akazawa is less friendly and more actively hostile toward Mei, and for different reasons. She tried to kill Mei, stabbing her left eye, but due to her own paranoia, rather than to avenge Sugiura. A moment later, a cupboard fell on her, and she was rescued by Tatsuji Chibiki afterward. Even if she doesn't die, she cuts her hair shortly. Cruel and Unusual Death: Strangling oneself to death due to some cables is not a nice way to go. Her death is notable for being the only one in the anime to get a Gory Discretion Shot.A friend of Reiko, who also was a member of Class 3-3 some years ago and survived the Calamity with her. A bespectacled boy who is a class officer, has high grades, and childhood friends with Teshigawara. In the novel, he is a supporting protagonist but is Demoted to Extra in the anime.
