Description

Choose from 12 chord types, an array of strum effects, and spread the voices out into complex velocity-sensitive parts that respond like a stringed instrument. Twelve different chord types are available at the press of a single key, making it easy to construct harmonic progressions on the fly. Right off the bat, the KeyStep 37 is a joy to use, as we principally test it in internal sync mode and trigger software instruments within Logic Pro. It’s a diverse creative tool; whether you want to sequence, arpeggiate or simply refine your creative ideas, KeyStep 37 will give you a leg up. The original KeyStep 32 has a basic chords feature where you can capture a chord shape that you’re holding, then play it with single keys.

By registering the supplied licence in your account with a particular software vendor you are creating a permanent record of ownership so please be advised to make a note of your login details at the time of registration. Now with Keystep I would want to record a sequence with first synth (lets say a bass line) and then keep it looping and then continue to play over it with my other synth by switching to channel 2.Handy for jamming along, Keyboard play can be set to an alternative MIDI channel so that you can access two different sounds at the same time. Also, there are 8 Arpeggiator modes (7 on the KeyStep Pro) and all versions have Chord Memory, which transforms a single-note melody into a chord sequence, at the touch of a button. Enjoy spontaneous MIDI CC control over the parameters of your desktop synths, animate your favorite VST instruments with strummed chord patterns, and sketch freely with your modular setup while staying perfectly in key. It's re-sponsive, dynamic, expanded in every direction to encourage musical exploration - the controller that’s built to inspire. Your sequenced notes are shown on the colourful LED strip above the keyboard - sequencing has never been this easy.

When not controlling chords, the four new knobs on the KeyStep 37’s panel generate MIDI CCs, and the Chord button serves a secondary duty of cycling through four control banks. The most annoying feature is the way all the buttons are blinking hard in your face when activated -- even the octave+/- buttons. As with that larger controller, it features a row of LEDs above the keyboard to display certain settings as well as chord/scale info. The KeyStep 37 goes to places most MIDI controllers fear to step, with full standalone capability and both MIDI and CV connectivity as well as the usual USB. Arturia have expanded the KeyStep to give you the KeyStep 37; a new take on the popular MIDI keyboard controller giving you more control with added features and great response. Generate instant chord sequences that respond to your velocity, with 12 chord types and an articulate instrument-like strum control.

The Arp and Sequencer both benefit from a new scale option, which contains notes to a chosen mode and key. On the rear panel, the connectivity is the same except that the USB connection has been upgraded to a full‑sized port, and there’s now a power switch. The 37 retains the pair of dip‑switches for clock settings, making a refreshing change from menu‑diving. Honestly I didn't really dig in to the sequencer and arpeggiator a lot as I bought this mostly for playing the keys, but from what I have explored they work perfectly well and the sequencer seems excellent.Tap into the inner workings of your MIDI hardware and software with assignable 16 MIDI CC parameters across 4 switchable banks. It’s perhaps a little harder to hold down chords if you have chunky fingers, however fast, monophonic solos with jumps well in excess of an octave are a breeze. I’ve never fully embraced my OG Keystep as a sequencer/creative tool on its own; just as a set of keys when I feel like playing that way.
