Description

Given that Kaluth gives you extra mana when you attack, it makes a lot of sense to try and attack a little more often. If anyone tries to target it, they’ll have to pay three life for the honor of doing so, but that’s not all.

Not only do you become the monarch when this card ETBs, but if you can stay that way you get to make a 5/5 dragon at the beginning of your upkeep for as long as you wear the crown. As a Spirit Dragon, Vengeful Ancestor is another solid addition to a Vrondiss deck, but I’m also putting it into my Tahngarth, First Mate deck since goad is so useful there.

Sword of Hours also plays nicely with dice-rolling strategies, but it’s also awesome with the countless +1/+1 counter strategies out there.

Kindred Summons is a little more niche—you want a tribal deck that can put a lot of creatures on the battlefield and also generate a lot of mana. Godzilla, King of the Monsters” encourages “power matters” strategies, and my main Tahngarth is a great goad commander since it likes to join the attack party whenever it can. You're averaging around four and a half mana worth of value per pull, but you'll need to ensure you don't whiff, so it comes with the deckbuilding cost of including the full gamut of mana values.Welcome to the Nitpicking Nerds Precon Upgrade Guide for the Draconic Rage deck, where we showcase the full list of cuts and adds required to transform this underpowered precon into a well-oiled Dragon-making machine!

This is a one-in-eight chance of tutoring your Craterhoof Behemoth to the field with a consolation prize for the other seven, which is not nothing. Wulfgar of Icewind Dale gives us a commander where “attack triggers matter,” which is narrow and niche enough to be cool and off the beaten path. While we’re talking about mana, how about we throw in the ability to tap your permanents for three times the amount of mana? Dungeons of Death includes one traditional foil Nihiloor, plus one nonfoil Minn, a Gnome Wizard and master of illusion who delights in the company of her semi-imaginary friends. I’d also love it if you followed my Twitch channel TheCompleteCommander, where I do Commander, Brawl and sometimes other Magic-related streams when I can. That is not to say that the deck is not fun to play out of the box, ‘cos dropping big dragon-type things on opponents is always fun, but I do think there should be a solid focus on a particular direction should you wish to upgrade this deck and make it a bit more challenging for your opponents. There are only 10 cards that enable dice rolling in the deck and although they do provide for some great random shenanigans like Chaos Dragon and Maddening Hex, I don’t feel that there are enough cards to make this a viable strategy to engage the wrath of Vrondiss to make dragon spirits. The deck comes with a lot of dice-rolling cards that can cause Vrondiss to deal damage to itself to make tokens, but you can certainly dig up some more from Adventures in the Forgotten Realms.
