TOEFL-iBT (including Home Edition): total 92 with at least 20 in each component. We do not accept TOEFL MyBest Score to meet our English language requirements. The final two years of study will consist of many specialised course choices and a personal project. You will continue to study informatics courses that match your interests and will start a project that you will develop in Years 4 and 5.

One of our student's wrote a blog on buying computers and what to look at for the specs of the computer: The compulsory courses in your first year are almost the same across all Informatics degrees as they all require a strong foundation of both mathematics and computation. Students studying Cognitive Science or on joint degrees will have varying requirements but will take a subset of the courses listed below along with courses from their other degree area. Introduction to Computation (20 credits)The Cognitive Science Programme is jointly organised by the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences (PPLS) and the School of Informatics. It is an interdisciplinary degree which attempts to understand the human mind. It focuses on abilities such as reasoning, perception, memory, awareness, emotion, attention, judgment, motor control and language use. You should also consider proposing a project in your area of interest. If you find someone interested in negotiating a self-proposed project with you, and willing to commit to this, the deadline for proposing it can be extended if you inform the project coordinator.

Students who have not met the Honours hurdle and are missing up to 20 credits: your performance is insufficient to progress to Year 3 Honours. However, you are eligible to transfer to Year 3 Ordinary BSc (see "Ordinary Degree" below). You will also be required to make up the missing credits from Year 2. write a comprehensive report, and give an oral presentation of your work. During this year you produce a project that is essentially self contained but allows for planned extra work and extensions to existing work in the fifth year. It is therefore recognised that your project is likely to contain a larger planning component than is the case for many UG4 projects. It is also understood that as part of this planning you might decide to defer certain aspects for the fifth year; such decisions should be discussed and justified in your report.
