A lush setting, elegant and mysterious characters, lively dialogue, and murder combine to make a very satisfying read. I had fun working alongside Poirot, who naturally won’t share all of his ideas with anyone, including the dear reader. I thought I had it figured out a few times, but I’m easily fooled by all the red herrings. That’s okay, I like being distracted by it all! Um livro com um ritmo muito prazeroso e que me manteve em suspeita por todo o tempo. (editor colocar capa do livro na tela com um motion cheio de efeitos) When confronted by Poirot, Simon instantly confesses. Jacqueline does too, and further explains that Simon had never loved Linnet but had wanted her wealth, and so Jacqueline, who herself loved Simon overwhelmingly, masterminded the entire plan: Simon would marry Linnet, then they would murder her and Simon would inherit the money, and then Simon and Jacqueline would be together. Death on the Nile was released by HarperCollins as a graphic novel adaptation on July 16, 2007, adapted by François Rivière and Solidor (Jean-François Miniac) ( ISBN 0-00-725058-4). This was translated from the edition first published in France by Emmanuel Proust éditions in 2003 under the title of Mort sur le Nil.

Agatha Christie adapted the novel into a stage play which opened at the Dundee Repertory Theatre on 17 January 1944 [9] under the title of Hidden Horizon. It opened in the West End on 19 March 1946 under the title Murder on the Nile and on Broadway on 19 September 1946 under the same title. In The New York Times Book Review for February 6, 1938, Isaac Anderson concluded after summarising the set-up of the plot that, "You have the right to expect great things of such a combination [of Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot] and you will not be disappointed.".James Fanthorp is a young English lawyer for Linnet Ridgeway, the nephew of the lawyer William Carmichael. Linnet’s marriage to Simon Doyle causes Carmichael to send Fanthorp down to Egypt to find the… First released on November 1st, 1937, Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile is considered one of her finest novels spanning a long and illustrious career as a mystery writer. Death on the Nile marks the 18th of Christie's Hercule Poirot novels and sees the titular detective deduce a series of murders aboard the Karnak as it travels down the river Nile. In addition to Branagh's retelling, Death on the Nile has received several other adaptations, including John Guillermin's dazzling 1978 film, a BBC radio adaptation, a graphic novel, and even a sleuth-themed video game.

Attempting to give Jacqueline the slip, the Doyles plan an extended stay in Cairo, while secretly booking passage on the same Nile river cruise as Poirot. To their rage, Jacqueline learns their plans and appears on board with them. This was my second Poirot after Murder On The Orient Express a few years ago. Seems like that is the one everyone has read! I read that one because I was interested to read it before the new movie version came out. This time I was looking to try another Poirot, and saw that Branagh was doing another run as the detective in an upcoming cinematic version of Death on the Nile, so it was the perfect one to try next. Poirot then interviews all the passengers. Several of them heard a splash shortly after midnight, and Miss Van Schuyler claims that she looked out her window and saw Rosalie Otterbourne throw something overboard. But Rosalie denies this. A short time later, the murder weapon is recovered from the Nile – Jacqueline's pistol, wrapped in Miss Van Schuyler's missing velvet stole. To Poirot, this makes no sense, when someone wanting to incriminate Jacqueline would have left her pistol behind to incriminate her. The book was first serialized in the US in The Saturday Evening Post in eight installments from 15 May (Volume 209, Number 46) to 3 July 1937 (Volume 210, Number 1) with illustrations by Henry Raleigh. Prime example: At one point he is heard to remark, and I quote: “ And since I am in the habit of always being right…” which led to me responding “And are you also in the habit of always being pompous asstard.” The “my poop stinketh not” attitude was just a bit too much for me.The novel was adapted as a five-part serial for BBC Radio 4 in 1997. John Moffatt reprised his role of Poirot. The serial was broadcast weekly from Thursday, January 2 to Thursday, January 30 at 10.00am to 10.30pm. All five episodes were recorded on Friday, July 12, 1996, at Broadcasting House. Hercule Poirot is on holiday and on board a steamer that is touring the Nile River. While on the steamer, Poirot is approached by Linnet Doyle nee Ridgeway, a successful socialite. She wants to hire Poirot and have him prevent her stalker from stalking her. Poirot declines being maid and tries to convince Jacqueline de Bellefort to stop hounding Ridgeway but ultimately fails. Famous detective Hercule Poirot happens to be enjoying a holiday on the same Nile cruise. Although on vacation, his companion Colonel Race happens to be on the same voyage on a tip that a serial killer is also vacationing there under an assumed identity. All goes smoothly until late one night Linnet Doyle nee Ridgeway is murdered in her cruise cabin. Put in charge of the investigation, Race entrusts Poirot in bringing the murderers to justice. In Chapter 12, Miss Van Schuyler mentions to Poirot a common acquaintance, Mr. Rufus Van Aldin, who is known from The Mystery of the Blue Train.

In Part II, Chapter 21 of the novel, Poirot mentions having found a scarlet kimono in his luggage. This refers to the plot in Murder on the Orient Express.Nothing fools Poirot for long though, but if you're still wondering just why the victim was killed, who did it and how, we're here to help. The movie stays largely faithful to the book, but there are some changes along the way.
