This will not only remove prevent limescale build-up in the tank, but it will also make the water taste better. If you’re worried about burning yourself, this model has an excellent safety mechanism. On the right there’s a standard mixer tap lever that dispenses cold mains water and hot water from the home’s boiler. On the left there’s an identical lever for the near-boiled water system. To activate it, you push down on the lever and pull it towards you, holding it in position to keep the flow going. Monobloc taps: These are the most common kitchen taps, installed into just one hole in the sink or countertop. If you’re fitting a new kitchen and want to make sure you can choose from the widest range of taps, make sure to choose a sink designed for monobloc taps. Safety-wise, you have to depress a button and hold it down to turn the dial to dispense boiling water, to prevent mistakes (rather like the button for turning a shower temperature up high). There’s also an optional safety cover to keep little hands off it altogether. The spout is insulated, so cool to touch.

Not all models dispense water at 100˚C and sometimes that can be a good thing. A model that dispenses fully boiled water is best for sterilising items such as baby bottles, but you don’t really need water at 100˚C for most domestic uses. A maximum temperature of 98˚C is perfectly hot enough for the vast majority of applications, including filling saucepans and making tea. Just below boiling is always best for brewing coffee and delicate herbal teas. Are boiling water taps expensive to run? The second you take your finger off the button, the water stops. However there is a pot-filling function that delivers up to 3 litres of near-boiling water in 60 seconds without keeping your finger on the button. Testers have remarked that it runs slower than expected and it’s true that that’s half the speed of your regular hot tap. Like the Quooker, water is steaming hot and it gushes out, which doesn’t make it a great choice for heating small items, though it’s perfectly safe for filling a tea or coffee mug (a separate model with a progressive valve is also available for the same price). The hot water continues to run even when you take your hand off the controls, which is handy when filling a large saucepan as it allows you to use both hands to hold the pan steady.Upon releasing the lever, the hot water stops. The boiler then reheats the contents, ready for next time. Able to swivel a full 360 degrees and with a long curved spout, it’s the perfect fit if you’re looking to add a statement piece to your kitchen that doesn’t compromise on functionality.

Brass construction, chrome finish, 3L tank, 4 temperature settings, 80-98°C temperature range, removable filtration unit. Whether you are after steaming hot water or filtered drinking water, the Pronteau can help you out. It also provides regular everyday hot and cold water as you would find with a regular tap too, hence the 4-in-1 name. If you want to keep your existing taps, Grohe also produces a Red Mono version without mixers that sits next to your current tap. There is often more to an instant boiling water tap than an ordinary tap, and they are much more complicated appliances: Addition Of A Boiler Do instant hot water taps save money?Instant hot water taps can be more economical and save you money over the long term. Boiling water taps use less energy than kettles, so in terms of running costs they are cheaper. However, the upfront price is much higher than a kettle and generally more than a standard hot water tap. The main benefits of instant boiling water taps are around the time they save you.

Don't bother putting the kettle on - the best boiling water taps will fix you a brew in a heartbeat

Honestly, one or two degrees below boiling point isn’t a bad thing unless you insist on sterilising baby bottles at boiling point. The slightly lower temperature has no adverse effects on a cup of tea and is a perfect temperature for coffee and filling saucepans.

The design is nice enough too. But it doesn’t have the fancy design details and glowing lights of premium boiling water taps. Brass construction, 2.5L tank, 88-99°C temperature range, efficient filter system, smooth water flow.Having boiling water come out of the same tap as your mains supply is ripe for catastrophe. The boiler is designed to fit under your sink, so ensure you have the space for this before you start. Water flow can also be controlled manually by turning and holding the dial to give more or less water than the pre-set options. A separate lever on the other side delivers regular hot and cold water.
