But it would not be a cookbook for fans without reminders of the TV series we love. Sprinkled throughout the book are photo stills from the show and favorite quotes to remind you of just how bad the eating habits of Lorelai and Rory were—and how coffee dependent Lorelai was. My eyes popped out of my head when looking at Lorelai’s graduation cake: a divine chocolate concoction that had chocolate covered espresso beans in the center! Yum! I also appreciated how the authors listed the people of Stars Hollow since the rapport and chemistry of the actors and their characters also contributed to the success of the show.

I’m definitely not the cook in this family. So why on earth am I reading and reviewing a cookbook? Well, because it’s GILMORE GIRLS, of course! There are tons of recipes I want to try and feed to my family. I adore the quotes from the series and the pictures from the show. Oy with the poodles already!” A classic line, presented on a classic writing device. Pay homage to the brilliant lines from Stars Hollow’s past while simultaneously nodding to the very profession that propelled the youngest Gilmore.Gift this book to the Gilmore Girls lover in your life, along with a Luke’s Diner Apron, which comes as part of a set. Craig and Mulrooney’s “Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook” is not without some weaknesses, however. The authors are slightly inconsistent in recipe detail with some reading as vague while others are overly detailed. For example, four different methods for pasta dough production in a single recipe using a variety of kitchen gadgets are not unusual while the next recipe may essentially be two steps. The recipes would have also benefited from additional information such as listed prep/cook times at a glance and nutritional facts. Even though “Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook” doesn’t diminish in value without these supplements; they would have strengthened the collection.

Cut dough: Lay out a sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured work surface. Use a shot glass (or any round cutter that is 2 inches in diameter) to cut 15 circles from the sheet. Oy with the poodles already! The first official collection of recipes inspired by the world of the fast-talking Gilmore Girls. Now, this is a true recipe book. The recipes are based on the show. Sure you’d be fine with the cookbook even if you never watched the show, as long as you eat like a Gilmore, or a Sookie, or a Mrs. Kim.

Anyone familiar with “ Gilmore Girls” knows that food plays just as big a part in the show’s storylines as Rory and Lorelai’s constant rotation of love interests and the absurdly entertaining residents of Stars Hallow. Over its seven-season run, Rory was seen with her nose in more than 300 different novels. Those are some pretty serious literary ambitions, but if you want to brush up on your own required reading list like the Yale graduate, this motivational poster details exactly which novels you should invest your time in. Hang it up in your Gilmore-inspired reading nook, or perhaps in a home office or dorm room, and find pretty inspiration the next time you’re looking for a good read.Would Lorelai have survived so many Friday night dinners without her go-to drink, a gin martini? Despite Emily (Kelly Bishop) and her best efforts to derail her daughter with a Sidecar, we’ve lost count of how many of these drinks Lorelai had to sip on over the years while putting up with her parents’ shenanigans. If you’ve got some time on your hands, why not concoct your own gin with a craft brewing kit. You can call it “Dragonfly Gin,” or some other punny, Gilmore-worthy name. One of the many gems in Stars Hollow is Luke’s Diner, where Luke Danes (Scott Patterson) serves up eggs, burgers, and donuts with a side of dry wit. It should come as no surprise that the cookbook is filled with diner-inspired bites, including the Classic Luke’s Diner Cheeseburger, Santa Burger, and tips on brewing a strong cup of coffee. You’ll feel like a regular, just like Lorelai and Rory. Kim ate. I thought she was nuts. She was, but now I at least eat like her. So her recipes were a win and a pleasant surprise. I didn’t expect to find them within. But the Non-Mrs. Kim recipes also surprised me as I can alter them in some way. I ummed and aahed about getting this because I'd read Eat Like A Gilmore, but I love how pretty this looks on my bookshelf in my growing 'official' cookbook collection. Make roll #2: On the remaining 27 4-inch pieces, place 1 Butterfinger Bite, 1 Jujube, 2 chocolate chips, and 1 Junior Mint. Roll each one, beginning at the marshmallow side. Place rolls on a plate. Serve.

Prepare buns and garnish: On two separate plates, arrange a sesame-seed bun, open, on each. Beside each bun, arrange garnish. Set aside. My sister told me about Gilmore Girls a few years ago, and I was instantly a fan of this old series. For the grand finale of my “eating like a Gilmore Girl” experiment, I had decided to make not just a Luke’s Diner burger, but the famous Luke’s Diner Santa Burger (pg. 25). This particular burger has a brief but stunning cameo in season one, episode ten, the first of what could be thought of as the Gilmore Girls Christmas episodes. The book also includes some rather popular quotes from the show sprinkled throughout. They are of course food related. There is this gem: “This is a jumbo coffee morning. I need coffee in an i.v.”. Craig and Mulrooney conclude “Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook” with fortifications including dietary considerations regarding the original preparations, glossary of terms, measurement conversions and a space for reader notes.
