Description
In the Gallowdark the intercessors shine more than many other teams thanks to having 3APL and being able to shoot or fight twice. This makes them real killing machines, able to charge kill someone in a doorway and then perform a hatchway fight. On the other hand when carrying Methodical they are able to perform the Guard on a 3+ which is a huge improvement over their Phobos brothers and one of the main reasons to always carry this chapter tactic. There are a huge amount of possible competitive lists, and a huge part of preparation for a tournament is fine tuning those lists. Librarian ( Epistolary • Codicier • Lexicanium • Primaris Librarian • Vanguard Librarian) • Chaplain ( Reclusiarch • Primaris Chaplain • Judiciar) • Apothecary ( Primaris Apothecary • Apothecary Biologis • Helix Adept) • Techmarine Space Marine Intercession Teams arrived in August 2022, shortly before Into the Dark and the Annual threw another four teams into the mix along with a new mode of play. This was the biggest shake up the game had had since launch, and Into the Dark, the additional rules like Guard and the boards used for Into the Dark created a second meta in Kill Team games, as some teams (like Gellarpox) do so much better on Into The Dark maps with the shorter engagement ranges and choke points and some teams struggle, like Kroot, who benefit from hugging cover and denser maps like Octarius. Raider: This operative can charge while within Engagement Range of an enemy operative. Also, every time this operative does a Normal move, it can move within Engagement Range of enemy operatives (but cannot finish its move there). This means control zones can be ignored or at least mitigated, and opens up a lot of possibilities. It also means the enemy can’t pin you with an expendable model, you can charge out at a juicier target but it has to be a charge, for retreating and shooting you want Mobile.
Rapid – Add ▲ to this operative’s movement characteristic. This means you’re moving 7” (not 9”) with the operative, but it does mean you can get 9” charges, which is pretty huge. Speed kills, you’re basically getting the Vanguard ploy from the Phobos team for free, you can never go wrong with this choice. Adaptive Strategy (1 CP) When you break gain 3 CP. There’s no reason not to use this since at worst it’s neutral, but if you’re using this things are going poorly. You can only use this once a game. B The Elites supplement gave marines a shot in the arm with a large number of new units and commanders added and made both all Primaris Kill Teams and Veteran teams more practical (and streamlining their confusing datasheets). This, coupled with the update to the Death Denied Tactic has made marines much, much better, and likely top tier in the hands of an experienced player. Predator Destructor ( Predator Annihilator • Baal Predator) • Land Raider ( Land Raider Phobos • Land Raider Crusader • Land Raider Redeemer • Land Raider Achilles • Land Raider Prometheus • Land Raider Terminus Ultra • Land Raider Ares • Land Raider Excelsior • Land Raider Wrath of Mjalnar • Land Raider Angel Infernus • Land Raider Solemnus Aggressor • Land Raider Anvilarum) • Deimos Vindicator Laser Destroyer • Repulsor • Repulsor Executioner • Gladiator ( Gladiator Reaper • Gladiator Valiant • Gladiator Lancer) • Astraeus This is what I’d say would be a balanced team with a solid flexible roster with two notes to make a) Stalker bolt rifles are not good weapons if you want to move around the board and b) I don’t rate Thunder Hammers compared to Power Swords (more crits) or Power Fists (remove a wound 7 model on a single critical strike). Kill Team for having funIntercession Squads are Kill Team Units composed of different operatives selected within Intercessor marines. [8] Notable Intercessors It’s been almost a year and a half since our last Space Marines tactics article for Kill Team and thanks to Pariah Nexus, quite a bit has changed. Marines have the benefit of being the Kill Team faction with the most support and with the new rules in Pariah Nexus the faction has completely changed. So it was time to completely rewrite everything. Terminators are a big tough model to crash through enemy strongpoints and murder them, and both heavy flamers for a close engagement list and a cyclone for a fire base list are good choices. Putting a Comms specialist with Auspex next to your Cyclone Gunner is a good idea. I would think carefully about Chapter Tactics. You can put all your eggs in one basket, and Martial Zealotry has two good eggs in, Dueller and Aggressive, which makes it easy to parry a lot of your opponents hits and still be able to deal out a crit in terms of damage. But Dueller combined with Hardy makes you a lot more survivable in melee and taking shots, or Dueller and Stealthy if you are playing in a cover heavy environment.
Auspex scan, to shoot at incoming units set up as reinforcements is available to them, but shooting isn't their strong suit. The Deathwatch utilise a range of specialised bolt shells in many of their weapons. From rounds that douse their targets in acid to hollow shells filled with superheated gas, each type is designed to eliminate specific xenos foes. Each time a unit is selected to shoot, if it contains any models that are equipped with a weapon with this ability, then before you select any targets, each weapon with this ability can fire special-issue ammunition. If any do, select one of the ammunition types below for that weapon; until the end of the phase, each time that weapon is fired, apply the modifiers and abilities associated with that special-issue ammunition:
Strategic Assets
Complex – Those options come with a downside: Making the faction incredibly complex. You have a stupid number of decisions to make when roster building and choosing your models for a game, and the number of tactics and rules interactions you have to remember is staggering. Marines are, frankly, not a good faction for beginners.
