Every time I encounter Thrawn in the Star Wars universe, I’m impressed with how excellent of a villain he is. It's a must-read for those seeking a galactic adventure filled with suspense, intrigue, and unforgettable characters.

At least, until he betrays himself and turns violent, and Luke ends having to be rescued by Mara Jade, so that they in turn can rescue Talon Karrde from the clutches of the Empire. Even the movies have mistakes of storyline between each other and they are just six films (for now). His ability to decipher art, culture, and psychology to anticipate his enemies' moves is nothing short of mesmerizing.Zahn was able to keep the first book so interesting because he was setting up the excellent story, introducing us to new characters and worlds, and getting us up to speed on our old favorites from the original trilogy. Directly beneath the ship, in the western part of the Great Northern Forest of the planet Myrkr, dawn was approaching. In true Star Wars fashion: the trilogy sequel means the bad guys win and the Thrawn Trilogy is no exception. Josh Pratt is a reformed motorcycle hoodlum who found God in Jail, got out, and became a private investigator.

Talon Karrde and Mara Jade are still favorites, and I’m looking forward to seeing their roles in The Last Command! But I must say that an enemy like this is much better than the classic villain, who always gives less play. How flaw many of the Star wars protagonists have been written is especially obvious when contrasting it with Thrawn, although fangirls and boys will of course also enjoy the known stars of the show. We all know, by book three, we'll be like, "Oh, yeah, that's why that was important," but still, while we're reading it, we wonder.Elsewhere, Leia Organa Solo keeps the promise she made with the Noghri known as Khabarakh back on the planet Kashyyyk in the previous novel and arrives on Khabarakh's devastated home planet of Honoghr. The dying Empire’s most cunning and ruthless warlord—Grand Admiral Thrawn—has taken command of the remnants of the Imperial fleet and launched a massive campaign aimed at the Republic’s destruction. Swan thought the book "feels tentative and inclusive; there doesn't seem to be enough material to justify a 144-page book. Acknowledged, Chimaera,” General Covell said into his helmet comlink, careful to keep the quiet scorn in his gut from getting through to his voice.
