Description

This book is a journey, of different kinds. One physical as the main characters make their way through the treacherous landscape of the Stone forest, with various courts at play but the other is the journey of the friendship and budding romance between Wren and Oak that captivates the reader. Wren’s journey requires one thing and that is to trust Oak again. A young man who has betrayed her once and is set to again, but this time their feelings towards each other are tested and challenged as the chemistry ignites but the notions of trust are as ever - illusive. As I was reading, I would often stop to just soak in the illustrations. They truly brought these stories to life and gave them the magical quality of an old-time fairy tale. The Lost Sisters will contain spoilers for events that take place in The Cruel Prince, and also won’t make much sense if you haven’t read that book first.

Jude, acting as Queen, tries to formulate how to maintain her rule against Madoc's threat and solve Cardan's curse. Madoc and the Court of Teeth offer Jude the gift of a golden bridle that would be able to control Cardan. She later learns that they gave her incorrect instructions on how to use it, which would have tied her to the snake and left Madoc in control. A plan is made for Jude to capture the snake, but instead of putting the bridle on him, she cuts the snake's head off. The second part of the prophecy – only out of his spilled blood can a great ruler rise – is fulfilled when Cardan, in his original form, emerges from the pool of the snake's blood. In the Epilogue, Cardan and Jude are crowned and they banish Madoc to live in the human world. Funny how I hate angst until it's Cardan being angsty, and that angst involves him scribbling a certain Jude Duarte's name over and over again while ink drips onto his clothes but he's too busy pining over Jude to care. Her enormous jaws opened, teeth gleaming. Her great nose twitched, scenting prey. She could hear the speeding of his heart. In that moment, she sprang on him and tore him to pieces.” “That’s a terrible story,” Cardan said, outraged. “He would have been better off if he’d never left home. Or if he’d said something cruel to the tavern-keeper. There is no point to your tale, unless it is that nothing has any meaning at all.” The troll woman peered down at him. “Oh, I think there’s a lesson in it, princeling: A sharp tongue is no match for a sharp tooth.”His shoulder hurts, and she may be right about the iron poisoning. He certainly feels as though his head is swimming. But he smiles up at the trees, the looping electrical lines, the streaks of clouds.

I mean who wants to see Cardan and Nicasia together?!?!?! I wanted more JURDAN moments.🥺😭 Instead there were like about 2-3(?) short stories on them out of 11??? How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories is a collection of beautifully illustrated short-stories, all told from Cardan's perspective. They span from when he was a little boy, all the way through and after, The Queen of Nothing. I was expecting more Jurdan stories. Yeah, sure, I knew it was going to be about younger Cardan, but I really was anticipating more of his interactions with Jude in this. I mean, I can think of at least three scenes from the first book I wanted to see in his perspective.

Sophie: Former human servant to Balekin; Rescued by Jude; Killed herself; Adopted by merfolk of the Undersea honestly? i'm just glad it's over. and right now, i'm not even sad, i'm annoyed. i'd been hyped up for this book for MONTHS, and here i am, rating it 3 stars, which in my system isn't a high rating

Rovina Cai’s art is truly so beautiful that it renders me speechless. I was already in love with her and her art because of her work with The Wayward Children series, but this entire book feels like am immersive work of art. From the perfect color palette, to the most perfect details, she executes the vibe of Cardan and his story in a way that I don’t think another artist could. Rhiya Greenbriar; Daughter of Eldred; Sister to Balekin, Dain, Elowyn, Caelia and half-sister to Cardan; Good friend of Vivi; Killed herself Qui tocchiamo un argomento davvero davvero spinoso poiché io sono molto controcorrente per quanto riguarda questa saga che ha fatto un successo molto più che enorme. Volete sapere perché? Parliamone subito! This new instalment in the Folk of the Air series is a return to the heart-racing romance, danger, humour and drama that enchanted readers everywhere. This book is magical. The art is stunning and mystical and perfect. The writing is beautiful (as always) and depicts the world with such beauty and danger. How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories is a breath of fresh air—the fairy tale atmosphere, the razor-sharp wit, the allure of the fey. update: just a reminder there's just under 3 weeks left until RELEASE DATE!! judecardan stans how WE FEELING?

Ultimately, this collection shows us Cardan’s journey to being a better person, not, as I’d expected, through his relationship with Jude, but through his relationship with this story. He starts out as a little boy who only wants love. He becomes a villain, consumed by hate because it makes him feel strong. I won’t tell you who he turns into in the end, because I encourage you to find out for yourself. Jude brings Cardan to her rooms, the only place she is confident he will be safe. He asks her to kiss him. She hates that she wants to. Jude goes to the council meeting in Cardan's place. She tries to convince the council that Orlagh is planning to move against their kingdom. Madoc pulls Jude aside after the meeting and says he still cares about her despite the fact that she poisoned him. How Cardan begins to notice Jude more and more, developing feelings for her without being able to identify what they are. Unlike stories where they fall in love to fast, you have the realism of it taking time and understanding. But where most stories make it about the romance and frustrate readers half to death waiting for the action, you are too busy on the edge of your seat with Jude and her trials that you are plunged into the fast passed story. My sister thinks that she’s the only one who can take poison, but I am poison,” he whispers, eyes half-closed, talking to himself. “Poison in my blood. I poison everything I touch.”
