The Arctic Railway Assassin is the sixth instalment in the bestselling Adventures on Trains series. Hal and Uncle Nat travel to Sweden, boarding the overnight train to Narvik, the northernmost station in Europe, to see the Northern Lights just before Christmas. But danger is not far behind.

A high-speed train journey worth catching . . .The best yet' – The Times on Murder on the Safari Star Beetle Boy audiobook selected as a Notable Children's Recording - 2017, by the American Association for Library Service to Children Hal and Nat want a quiet trip, but as with previous books that will not be the case, only this time they have another helper. Praise for the series: 'Like Murder on the Orient Express but better!' - Frank Cottrell-Boyce on The Highland Falcon Thief. 'A first class choo-choo-dunnit!' - David Solomons on Kidnap on the California Comet. 'A high-speed train journey worth catching . . .The best yet' - The Times on Murder on the Safari Star. 'This series just gets better and better' - Maz Evans on Danger at Dead Man's Pass. As with the other books in the series, this works very well as a standalone read but there is such enormous pleasure to be gained from all of the titles that I really would recommend starting your reading from the beginning. Throughout the series, the stories have been greatly complemented by the artistic skills of Elisa Paganelli, whose maps and illustrations are a joy to behold, and this title is no exception.

The success of this series is not at all surprising as every book not only introduces the reader to a new location - and a new train - but also a brilliant new mystery to solve. I can't wait to see what Hal gets up to next!

The setting is of course a train, however the descriptions of the places they go, people they see and where they are are always written so brilliantly, you barely need the wonderful illustrations this book comes with, however this book is enriched and brought to life by the artwork throughout.Hal and Uncle Nat are travelling to see the Northern Lights during the festive season, and as the title may suggest, yup, there's an assassin aboot! In Danger at Dead Man’s Pass (book 4 in the Adventures on Trains series), we learned about Uncle Nat’s mysterious past. In this new adventure, his Cold War connections lead the pair into very real danger. This extra layer to the story is incredibly intriguing – I want to know more about Uncle Nat’s life before the train mysteries began!
