Jarman, Casey (May 26, 2022). "The Sound of 'Tunic:' A Video Game Music Love Story". Bandcamp. Epic Games. Archived from the original on March 25, 2023 . Retrieved March 25, 2023. Marino, Brad (June 10, 2018). "E3 2018: Tunic Wins Cutest Game Award for E3 2018". Giant Bomb. Fandom. Fagandini, Max (March 25, 2022). "Tunic has one of the best video game puzzles ever". Polygon. Vox Media. Archived from the original on March 15, 2023 . Retrieved May 17, 2023. No. Tunic‘s insistence on being obtuse and unclear leads to dead end after dead end. Since it’s built around players cooperating to figure out its mysteries and puzzles, I can’t recommend this game to anyone who wants to beat a single-player game by themselves. Tunic desperately tries to recreate the magic of classic Legend of Zelda games, all too often doing so to a fault. It tries to be hands-off and instead leaves the player with no idea of where to go. It wants to have simple combat, akin to something like the Zelda Oracle games, but that approach gets stale incredibly fast here. More than anything though, Tunic left me feeling lost in its mysteries, which I didn’t want to solve out of need or drive, but because I couldn’t bear them anymore. Is there a better alternative? To play this game on PS5, your system may need to be updated to the latest system software. Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available on PS4 may be absent. See PlayStation.com/bc for more details. The difference probably comes down to a lot of things: time, passion, having a clear idea of what you want to achieve, even if it's wildly complex and ambitious. And more: a certain sympathy with the form. In this regard, here's another mangled quote: they say that only a bad poet hates the rules. This is because a good poet thrives with restrictions, with established expectations that can be twisted, subverted, inverted. They find limitations and traditions propulsive, accelerative. This is Tunic to its core.a b Bankhurst, Adam (February 23, 2023). "DICE Awards 2023 Winners: The Full List". IGN. Ziff Davis. Archived from the original on February 24, 2023 . Retrieved February 23, 2023. Tunic 's plot received mixed opinions from reviewers. Handley applauded the way the story was told without words, and Jeuxvideo 's reviewer found the ending interesting. [33] [34] The IGN and PC Gamer reviewers found the plot interesting but secondary to the rest of the game, Coyle of PC Gamer concluding that it was "a nice addition rather than a compelling reason to play". [6] [8] Tunic is an action-adventure game set in the ruins of a post-apocalyptic fantasy world, in which the player character, an anthropomorphic fox, navigates the terrain and fights off hostile creatures. The player is initially given no directions or instructions, and the majority of the text is in a constructed writing system, with only some words presented in the player's selected language, such as English. The three-dimensional terrain is typically displayed from a fixed isometric view, though the perspective shifts at certain points. [1]
