This is the first book I've read by Liliana Carlisle and I can definitely say I loved every second of it. When he doesn’t come home from a job—if burglary can be considered a job—I discover he’s been taken by a beast of a man with soulless eyes.

There was no nest building, no real 'out of mind' experience, again it was glossed over but usually heat is kinda long and crazy and this was just like pretty normal smut (besides the slick and knotting lol). I wasn’t expecting a lot for something that’s a plotless porn romp but the inconsistency and unrealistic occurrences were just too much for me to overlook when paired with less than mediocre sex scenes. Erik and Ellie had only had a handful of interactions and boned once when, all of a sudden, he was in love with her 🙄. Men ogled and touched as I offered my body and soul to the highest bidder, and I could tell my stranger didn’t like what he saw.

I knew immediately that I would love the premise of this story, however stories written in third person feel strange to me. For college student Emily Sheppard, the thought of spending a summer alone in New York is much more preferable than spending it in France with her parents. Everything I ran from, all of the villains of my past, they’re all here to take another bite out of me. But life has its own plans for her when she gets caught between her father and a man so dark and deadly she can’t look away. The character building and plot was not really good but I think that’s because the book is just short.

However i wasn’t overly keen on Ellie the fmc as i found her to be annoying at times , but I did enjoy watching their relationship bloom and the epilogue 😋🥺 SUCH A LOVELY ENDING ! Kidnapped by human monsters, Grace Thorne was ripped from her quiet intellectual life and left deeply scarred. Readers who enjoyed Alpha Inmate by Liliana Carlisle also liked the following books featuring the same tropes, story themes, relationship dynamics and character types. He wants me to embrace the bond between us, but I’m not ready to forgive him for what he did, and part of me thinks I never will.In addition, while the prose flowed and contained great detailed descriptions (the prologue was particularly visceral), the number of unclear pronoun references meant that I had to read some sections twice. It features fated mates (rejected mate, knotting), a dirty-talking and alpha shifter hero, and a badass heroine who brings him to his knees. She has a secret crush on the man with the glowing gold eyes who saved her life, and gave her the gift of the wolf, but he is distant, and getting quieter by the day. He stole my innocence—right after he dressed me in white and made me vow to be his for all of eternity.

But nothing bad ever happens, so we all just stay focused on finding our fated mate when we turn 21 and our pack status. She texts Lita to let her know she’s arrived safely, but the message takes thirty minutes to send, due to the poor reception.

At the mercy of a tyrant who leers at me with green heated eyes until I beg him for things I shouldn’t.With a tragic beginning I was prepared for a tragic the death of our kind and the final reign of the dragons. Though the subject matter is "dark," it doesn't fit my definition of that overused term since Erik never once harms Ellie.
