Playdough is one of our favorite activities and with a birthday coming up, we thought what better way to celebrate than with playdough cupcakes with candles on top! Read on to see how we put it all together! You could also roll out a long piece of playdough and spiral it on top of a playdough cupcake.Is it just us (and oursweet tooth) or does this look delicious?! We like to place everything on the table and let the little ones decorate and play as they wish. You can direct them if you’d like but more times than not, they enjoy the time to have open-ended play. And of course we enjoy the playtime too! Ours like to layer their cupcakes and decorate them with beads and gems. A stable and strong wrist is a powerful way to improve endurance in the hand during functional tasks. For some reason this edible playdough recipe reminds me a little of ice cream! A fun alternative to a bakery or cake shop could be to set up a fun ice cream parlour by providing ice cream cones, small containers, spoons and sprinkles! They had fun placing them in their muffin match up panstoo and putting them in their play kitchen oven to bake.

There are so many ways that you can play with your cake mix playdough. It would be fun to give your toddler or preschooler the cake mix playdough alongside sprinkles, cupcake cases, muffin tins, birthday candles etc so they can make their own bakery or cake shop. You could add some little plates and a tea set too! Use small pieces of play dough to form imaginary decorations: sprinkles, icing, cherry, birthday candles, etc. The fact that this cake mix playdough is edible means that you have the added bonus of not having to worry about small children putting the playdough into their mouths. If they take a sneaky bite it doesn't matter! I wouldn't actually encourage children to eat the playdough, it's just safe if they do! If you keep all the items you are adding to the playdough edible too the whole activity will be taste safe for young children. Our little ones alsolike to put pony beads on top of pipe cleaners or candles and then blow them off as though they were blowing out real candles.
