Description

The Slave Leia/Metal Bikini costume consists of a gold brass bikini top, a brief bottom, and various accessories. Leia’s hair is styled in intricate braids, and she wears a collar and chains as part of her enslavement by the villainous Jabba the Hutt. Step 2: Cover the entire foam piece with felt. Create detail on BB-9E’s dome with craft felt and attach using hot glue. Step 6: Spray paint the poncho in a camouflage pattern. I used the brightest green to cover the majority of the poncho with accents of brown and other greens. Let the poncho dry for at least 24 hours.

Step 6: Cut holes on the top and bottom of the ball droid. For the top, measure the width around your child’s chest and cut a hole slighter larger than that measurement. For the bottom, the hole should be wide enough so your child has enough leg room to walk.

About the blog

Step 1: Press the leggings so the sides are nice and crisp. Apply the iron-on fabric adhesive according to the directions in the center of both sides of the pants. Then place the ribbon right side up on top of the iron-on fabric adhesive and iron for 4-6 seconds. Step 4: For the collar, cut out 2 donut shapes. (I used a child’s circle skirt pattern as my guide.) This will give you 2 layers to the collar -- an upper and lower layer. Sew the two layers together at the outside of the circles.

Step 2: Use tailor’s chalk to make an arc at the bottom corner (on the fold) and a larger arc from the bottom to the top of the fabric. (See picture.) Cut out both arcs. Repeat this step with your gold fabric lining. Pin the lining to the cape and trim the bottom of the gold fabric making it a few inches shorter than the blue fabric. Hem the bottoms of the lining and cape, if you’d like. This is where you really have to let your perfectionist instincts go. It doesn’t matter if the seam here gets a little messed up, so long as the sleeve is entirely attached. Please trust me: no one will notice! Since I've seen that this topic is one of the most viewed I would like to make a public announcement.

Again I laid down and had my husband fold the fabric to just above my ankles. If you want to make a hem here then be sure to cut it a bit longer than the desired final length. Going with my philosophy of not sweating the small stuff too much in making this costume, I decided it’d take me less time to cut the bottom carefully, than hem it up with tape. Ditto with the arm length, which I finalized before taping the inside seams so that I wouldn’t have to do one bit of extra work with the fabric tape. And since I only plan to wear this Halloween costume a couple times and mostly in the dark, I didn’t think anyone would notice (and in fact, no one has). Tape the arms and sides together The rebellious Leia rose from an orphaned prisoner to a courageous space general and it is a beautiful and interesting journey. I used an old queen size sheet that was earmarked for textile recycling at H&M anyway. Because of my height, I had to fold it diagonally to make sure it was long enough. I had no problem cutting the bottom corners off though so this was not an issue and saved me having to go out to buy a new piece of cloth. Note that you don’t need to line up the side edges perfectly since you’ll be cutting them off anyway! Cut out the head holePrincess Leia, the iconic character from Star Wars is such a strong character that many women want to be like her – and sometimes the least one can do is try to emulate her clothes. It took some time but I was able to finish it in one day. I just kept doing it all day long in between all my other tasks. Make sure to do both sides. It would probably go faster if I used three different spray bottles. I also felt like the color got darker if it sat in the water bottle longer. Like maybe it oxidizing. I like the effect of having different shades of green. I was really happy with how it turned out. It’s nice when you have a vision and things go according to plan. Step 1: Measure your child’s waist and add a couple extra inches for seam allowance. Draw a cummerbund shape onto a piece of paper. Use it as your pattern to cut out the cummerbund from the pleather fabric. You can create the center rectangular detail with just a piece of pleather itself or by covering a piece of craft foam with the pleather fabric (which will make it sturdier). Add details with acrylic paint or fabric maker. Hot glue the rectangular detail onto the belt. Then hand-sew or hot glue velcro to the ends of the belt. top stitched line down the entire front left and front right side of the vest ending at the waist band. The stitching is approximately 1″ / 2.5 cm from the front edge of the vest.

Step 1: Cut off the top portion of the half foam ball to make a flat surface instead of a rounded one.I mean look at how well my Tunic blends in. Those pesky Storm Troopers will never be able to find me. And if they do I know a cute Ewok who would be more than happy to help me out.
