Description

The pictures in this book are also beneficial and really help the reader see and understand more about the country. How I would use this book: I would definitely do a cultural project on this book because it vastly describes so many different cultures that any person even the teacher or adult could learn something. As a class, we would learn a little of the language, try some of the food, and try some of the daily tasks/ways of life if possible. This informational picture book brings engaging nonfiction content to younger readers by showing them how other children just like them live around the world.

Page turns cleverly generate and alleviate suspense, making it an integral part of the storytelling experience. Three three-chapter stories comprise this humorous first book in the Sofia Martinez series, which features a highly personable elementary schooler and her tight-knit Hispanic family. All of the illustrations in this picture book are all bright and very fun to look at with specializing each location the boy was at with objects and colors to represent that country.

On each two-page spread of a country’s information, you get colorful illustrations and over six different facts about that country. Join a young boy as he hops around the globe, visiting friends in 13 different countries spanning all six populated continents. This book teaches about the environment, customs, language, food, and much more for each place that he visits.

Also on some pages they had the language that is native to that country, so that could present as a challenge for soe kids, but also be a great growth cultural took. At the end of the book, a page asks many questions to see if the reader remembers specific facts about each place they visited. Throughout the book the boy samples foods, views landmarks, and attends cultural events, among other activities. While many books of this kind can be over crowded with facts, this one wasn't - a definite perk in my opinion. Although I enjoyed the illustrations that were present, I do wish there were multiple representations of each culture. Please note that JCB can only be accepted if you select Germany, Japan, Republic of Korea or United Kingdom as country of residence in the Book and Fly process.

Summary: A boy travels around the world meeting new people, discovering different things, and learning about each country.I always enjoy books that take me to many different places on the globe and teach me more about those places. A Ticket Around The World makes learning about history, geography, language, and culture just as fun as traveling to a new place. The teacher could read this book and then have students compare and contrast the different countries.

I liked that the pages feel friendly and they’re not too busy and over-stimulating with information and illustrations (everything is nice and neat). This is an information type book as the boy tells the reader many interesting facts and information about each of the places he visits.A Ticket Around the World, like the title suggests, is a gateway story that teaches the reader about 13 different countries around the world. Playful illustrations done with stylized realism lend warmth and whimsy to the book, making each locale feel welcoming. As the detailed illustrations provide helpful context, I would recommend this book be used in second to fourth grade classrooms. I think this picture book would be best utilized in 2nd grade and up to ensure that the bulkiness of the information is both informative but also attainable to the students that you read this book too.
