One of the best ways to stop your hot tub water from foaming is to shower before using the spa. This may seem a bit counter-productive, but it will prevent all sorts of oils from make-up, shampoo and moisturisers from taking up residence in your Jacuzzi. Regular maintenance If, after adjusting the pH levels the foaming clears up, then it can be a good idea to give your filters a good clean. This applies to any of the methods below. Once the foam has cleared then cleaning the filters will make sure that any debris, dirt or foamy residue is dealt with. You might also want to have a go at adding a clarifier solution to the water. This could work particularly well if you have a cloudy water problem along with the foam. The clarifier will eliminate the foam particles and again, help the filter to capture them. Run the hot tub with the jets on for the best part of an hour after adding the clarifier and then take the filters out and give them a good deep clean. Clean the lines– Add a flushing fluid to the hot tub water and then run the jets for a good half hour or so so that the fluid has time to circulate around all of the components of the hot tub. The flushing solution should loosen any bits of dirt, bacteria or algae growth from within the hot tub and leave them floating in the water ready to be drained away.

As we’ve touched on above, all sorts of things such as fabric softeners, creams and hair products can be the cause of hot tub foam building in your spa, so it stands to reason this will be increased the more the hot tub is used. Sell it: You may be able to sell your hot tub to a private buyer or to a used hot tub dealer. You can list it for sale online or in classified ads to reach potential buyers. So, be sure to scoop any dirt and debris out of your tub as soon as you spot it so your sanitiser doesn’t get used up trying to break that down rather than neutralising the compounds that cause hot tub foam. Unbalanced water chemistry With the Cleenly foam remover in your hot tub or spa, you can rest assured that your water will always look clean and fresh. Say goodbye to murky foam-covered water and hello to the crystal-clear, inviting water you deserve. The other most natural product is a combination of baking soda and vinegar. With this solution, you also add it to the water at a ratio of 10:1. However, you want to make sure that the solution contains 90 % vinegar and 10 % baking soda. Body and face care products such as body lotions, body creams, deodorants, and body powders are surfactants that can cause foam in hot tubs. Make-up also acts as a surfactant in hot tub water. If you enjoy taking food or drinks with you while you soak, you can accidentally spill some into the water. If you have kids who eat or drink from the spa, it could be the cause of foam in the hot tub. Hot tub foamy with jets on The first thing you should do with a foamy hot tub is test its water. Once you know which of the pH, alkalinity, sanitiser, calcium hardness, and total dissolved solids levels are out of balance, you’ll know what to keep an eye on in the future to help make sure it doesn’t happen again.

If you need to repair or find a leak in your hot tub, you'll first need to figure out how to remove the foam insulation from your hot tub to get access to the source of the problem. The good thing is that this can be accomplished as a DIY project in many cases. Unbalanced hot tub chemistry won’t cause foamy hot tub water by itself. But poor water balance – especially low calcium hardness – prevents your sanitiser from working effectively and reduces the surface tension of your hot tub’s water. Together, these make your hot tub a lot more likely to foam up. Cheap hot tub chemicals Lay-Z-Spas offer a splash of luxury to your life. They bring people together indoors and outdoors, setting the mood for a relaxing evening or a refreshing spritz in the day.Once your hot tub is entirely drained, wipe down the interior surface with a mixture of one part white vinegar to four parts water. Or you can use a specialist hot tub cleaner. And even if you use a foam remover, the cause of the foam in your tub will still be present. So most of the time, all you can do is an old fashioned drain and clean. How to Get Rid of Foam in Your Hot Tub If you've been struggling with foam, chances are you may also have bacteria living in the pipes. For this reason, it's a good idea to do a full line flush so your effort isn't wasted.

This has nothing to do with your teenagers being filthy (or at least it’s not entirely because of that), and everything to do with the fact that it’s simply getting used. Owning a hot tub is cool and you get to relax, but unless you spend time learning how to make it clean and healthy, it can cost you much more than what you paid for. Read this article on how to keep your hot tub clean and healthy. How to get rid of foam in hot tub naturally? Public hot tubs and spas are more likely to have high levels of foam in them. Commercialized hot tubs, even with foam, might look cozy at first, but you should be wary because it probably indicates unsanitized water.I would shower before each use, to make sure deodorants, perfumes, make-up and hair products are prevented from getting into the water. Now add in the air jets of a hot tub, and you get foams as a result. The jet pump is responsible for making tiny bubbles. With surfactants in the hot tub, however, the jet pump bubbles become covered in contaminants and are unable to pop which is why the foam persists. The first thing is to adjust the pH level of the water. The ideal range for a hot tub falls between 7.4 and 7.6, so you may need to add some pH decrease or sodium bicarbonate if necessary. You should also test the alkalinity and adjust it accordingly if needed. I bought Swim University’s Hot Tub Maintenance Course a while after I bought my first hot tub and was struggling with maintaining it. It was money very well spent and it has paid for itself many times over the years as I have saved by not needing to use as many chemicals as I did previously. Proper and timely maintenance is very important to prevent hot tub foam. Regularly drain out and clean your hot tub. You should change hot tub water at least once every few months.

Baking soda can also be used to remove foamy residue in your Jacuzzi. To do this, mix 1 part baking soda with two parts warm water until dissolved, then pour into Jacuzzi while the jets are turned off. Knowing the chemistry of your hot tub water will give you key insight into what specifically is causing your hot tub to foam.
