I think it's amazing and delivers such a positive message in a really cute way, (although it's definitely not subtle)! But this exuberant, rhyming book makes it crystal clear that these things are ALL available to girls as well!I sometimes find myself really excited about something, just to find that they are… okay with it, which is a little disappointing, to say the least, but that was definitely not the case with Girls Can Do Anything by Caryl Hart and Ali Pye. I am creative and wonderfully so; creative is something we all are - we just sometimes need the courage to open our hearts and minds from the usual solutions. Even as an adult, I feel like I am sometimes judged in my traditional community for doing what makes my heart happy, rather than what society has tried to tell me is okay for a girl/woman to do, wear, or be. I love the feedback I get from seeing what the girls achieve and enjoy from their time in Girlguiding. When she joined my unit she had a vocabulary of five or six words, poor motor control and functioned considerably younger than her age.
